Welcome and Review of Minutes, May 24, 2004: Following
a welcome back after the summer hiatus, the minutes of May 24, 2004 were approved
as written. They will be added to the website.

The website was discussed as a mode of communication with faculty and staff.
Vee will send an email noting the website to faculty and administration.
College in the High School Programs – Fall 2004: The
following dual enrollment programs were discussed:
- NACI Program: This is a grant funded program that is being conducted
in collaboration with Spokane Public Schools and Medicine Wheel Academy. College
courses have being offered to high school students at either Medicine Wheel
or Havermale for the past year. This fall, Psychology 101 is being taught
at Havermale. The course is taught by an SFCC faculty.
- Wellpinit High School: Joanne Murcar provided an update on this grant
funded project at Wellpinit High School. There are two college classes being
taught at the school this fall: Business and College Success. Both are taught
by adjunct SFCC faculty.
- Mathematics Project: Kelly Jahns provided a draft proposal from the
SFCC Math Department that still requires students to take a placement test
but if they have received an A or B in both semesters of pre-calculus from
an approved high school district, the placement score results are advisory
and they will be placed in MATH 124 (Calculus I). There are several conditions
attached to this proposal. SCC Math Department is still reviewing.
College in the High School Program – Draft Procedures: Vee
distributed a draft procedure for CHS at CCS. Discussion followed. The draft
will be emailed to everyone with input and changes requested. The new draft
will be sent out by email prior to the next meeting.
Informational Items: The following items were shared:
- State Dual Enrollment Policies – Addressing Access and Quality: This
website gives an overview of state enrollment policies: http://www.teacherscollege.edu/ccrc/Papers/CBT_State_Dual_04.pdf
- Education Reform Committee: There is a committee meeting at the state
level that is revising the SBCTC guidelines for CHS. This committee is meeting
with K-12 superintendents on October 5.
- National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships: This national
organization has standards for concurrent enrollment. www.NACEP.org
- CHS Email Questionnaire – ICRC List serv: Responses to CHS questions
were copied and circulated.
- CHS Task Force Update: Vee provided an update on the task force on
June 4, 2004 at the All Administrators meeting.
Adjournment and Next Meeting: The meeting was adjourned
at 4:00 p.m. The next meeting is scheduled for December 13, 2004 at 2:30 p.m.,
