SECTION III: BASIC
ELEMENTS OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL
HEALTH AND
SAFETY PROGRAM
E) EMERGENCY
PROCEDURES
PURPOSE
To protect and keep safe employees, students and visitors
of Community Colleges of Spokane through provision of clearly defined and
widely disseminated emergency procedures (e.g., medical, fire, bomb threats).
PROCEDURES
Emergency procedures training includes how to quickly
access 9-1-1 emergency services (ambulance, fire department, police); location
of on-site first-aid equipment and/or facilities; procedures for emergency
evacuation of a facility, including routes of exiting from areas; location and
use of fire alarms and fire extinguishers; and how and when to report injuries.
Emergency procedures training and dissemination of
information occurs as follows:
1.
Emergency
procedures are included within the general environmental health and safety
overview presented during new employee orientations, as scheduled by Human
Resources.
2.
During initial
on-job training, emergency procedure information is related to new employees by
their immediate supervisor.
3.
Emergency
procedures information is posted on facility safety bulletin boards.
4.
Facility
Evacuation Procedures information, originating from the CCS Environmental
Health and Safety Office, is disseminated to employees annually via college and
unit administrators.
5.
At the college or
unit level, emergency procedures information is disseminated to staff by
college administrators.
